As a wedding & affair organizer, I'm subject to more than my fair share of indignation and rage. You see, until people plan their first wedding day, they not ever think about how much wedding ceremonies cost. They want to have low-priced wedding ceremonies, yet they also wish to have all of the glitz and glamor. The problem is that, even if you purchase reasonably priced bridal gowns, reasonably priced wedding cakes, low priced bridesmaid gowns, & all the rest, it will still add up to a lot of money. The bottom line is that, if you want to have that inexpensive wedding day, you have to be willing to make sacrifices.
I am not saying that having inexpensive wedding ceremonies is impossible. If you're willing to have a small wedding day ceremony with only a few of your very closest friends there, you are able to do it for quite a realistic price. You can make it distinctive by incorporating touches like top wedding songs. The issue is that, if having inexpensive wedding ceremonies is your intention, you need to plan everything around it. That means that you need to have a small guest list, make reservations at some low-cost place, have some low-cost wedding dress, rent a tuxedo for the groom, & play top wedding songs on a less high-priced sound system, usually scrimp and save at every opportunity. Some of my clients have actually taken their own wedding day photographs to save on the cost of hiring a wedding day photographer!
The bottom line is that the most low-cost weddings are done in a judge's office. Everything else which you do costs further money. Some families go into debt for years due to what they spend on having a grand, extravagant wedding day. To me, it seems like a pity. When I meet customers who really wish to have cost effective wedding ceremonies, I tell them to have them in the back yard. That way, they can save on wedding day reservations - & play your top wedding songs on a boombox, if essential! If they're really ambitious, they can even cater it themselves. If there are going to be more than 30 people there, however, this is normally not an awfully good idea.
I guess that it all really depends on what you expect from your wedding day. When I first became married, all I wanted was some straightforward ceremony to dedicate my love to my wife. If this is all that you wish as well, it will be quite easy for you to plan some inexpensive wedding day. If, on the flip side of the coin, you wish to have an elaborate party with all of your friends and family, you'll have to pay for it.
